So, I was looking at the most recently submitted stuff on DA and I saw a picture. The picture didn't capture my attention but the title did, so I clicked and looked. It was a picture of her, just standing in a street. Not really that fascinating.

Then I clicked and looked at the person's front page. Seemed it was all just pictures of her in the four gallery preview shots. And not artistic shots... just things that seemed like they belonged in Photobucket or on MySpace or Facebook... that sort of thing. Basically, the type of pictures that are there to show people online to say "This is what I look like" ya know?

But then something peculiar caught my eye... she had 1600 visits to her page.... and she only joined yesterday. To this I raised my eyebrow and thought to myself "That seems odd. Why does she have so many visits when its just pictures of herself in non-artistic shots... this isn't MySpace..."

So my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to click to look at her whole gallery, assuming maybe she had some fantastic artwork posted before hand.

LOLWTFZ? No, seriously.

The rest of her gallery was much more of the same... except this time, she was in her underwear. And see, I have nothing against someone posing nude or posing in underwear if its of some actual ARTISTIC value. These were just basically saying:

"Look at me! I'm in my underwear on my bed!"
"Look, here's a crotch shot for you!"
"Here's a close up of my panties!"

And while I can't say I'm the authority on what is art or not, to me, just pictures of yourself in underwear on your bed in your regular room lighting =/= art.

I'm not writing this to post her name and have people go judge her either. I'm posting this to get an opinion...

What do you think of the people that create an account on Deviant Art - a place meant for Art and Artists - and treat it like its MySpace/Facebook? Ya know, the types that ONLY upload photos of themselves or pictures of them goofing off with their friends or webcam shots.

Side note; I have no issue with people uploading a few pictures like that. I've seen people do beautiful art AND post some pictures of themselves up too for like Deviant Art IDs or just to show people "This is the face behind the work." And I'm not talking about the people that take artistic nudes of themselves (Underwear or not, as long as it has some artistic value, then that's fine) or other people and post that up. Nor am I talking about the people that take pictures of themselves wearing their clothing designs. I am SOLELY speaking about the ones that obviously treat DA like its a MySpace type place, not posting any real art at all.

And don't think of me as some cocky artist that thinks her own work is better than anything else. I know my submissions aren't fantastic. Just answer the question. XD

And for the TL;DR people.... Heres a quick summary/question...

What do you think of the people that OBVIOUSLY treat DA like a MySpace or Facebook account? Emphasis on OBVIOUSLY.
